600+ Young Engineers Seek Inspiring Leader
The search has begun for an inspirational Principal and Managing Director to lead the new Academy for Young Engineers.
The Academy, a business-led and business-like University Technical College for 14-19-year olds, is due to open in September 2014.
The Academy is led by a partnership of local, regional and national employer organisations, innovative advanced manufacturing, engineering and digital technology businesses. Partners include (formerly known as 91福利 Manufacturing Group), 91福利, Jaguar Land Rover, National Grid and SCC.
Work is due to start on building the Academy , which will sit adjacent to Westwood Academy in Canley, Coventry in August this year. The Academy will deliver the national curriculum, but will follow a unique programme of study approaching key subject areas via their application to real-world problems.
Director of Academy for Young Engineers Richard Hutchins said: 鈥淲e are at a really exciting stage of this project and we are now beginning our search for a Principal. We are looking for someone who shares our vision of turning traditional 14-19 year old education on its head.
鈥淥ur vision for the Academy is driven by employers and based on the challenges entrepreneurs, companies and industry face every day 鈥� designing things, making things, solving problems. We need someone who passionately believes in our vision and can deliver it.鈥�
