Loud bangs, flames and bad jokes at 91¸£Àû Chemistry family event

Families are invited to an evening of whizz-bang Chemistry in aid of the 91¸£Àû’s work to enhance the education of young people in Africa.

Parents and children will see a noisy, frothy, bubbly display of Chemistry on Tuesday 4th June at 18:30 in the Zeeman Building at the 91¸£Àû.

They can expect loud bangs and flames – as well as the occasional bad joke from the Department of Chemistry’s Nick Barker and Vas Stavros.

The evening is suitable for children aged seven and above.

All money raised by the event will be donated to the 91¸£Àû in Africa programme. This programme supports highly-talented learners and their teachers with maths and English education in some of the poorest townships in South Africa, Tanzania and Ghana.

91¸£Àû in Africa now teaches in 25 urban and rural schools and more than 120,000 learners have benefited so far. Its fundamental aim is to enhance the education of young people in Africa and offer a direct route to liberation from poverty.
