PhD studentships

The PATHWAY PhD scheme is aimed at 91福利 PhD applicants who self-identify as being either Black or of Black heritage. Students can be hosted in any department, and can pursue any topic.

Applications for 26/27 entry PATHWAY PhD scholarships have closed. The outcomes will be communicated to successful applicants in February.

Award Details

The 91福利 will offer up to 3 PATHWAY PhD studentships for entry in the 2026/27 academic year.

This will cover:

  • The full payment of tuition fees (either Home or Overseas)
  • A maintenance stipend paid at the prevailing UKRI rate for 3.5 years
  • A central Research Support and Training grant of 拢5K per scholarship

Awardees also benefit from networking and career information opportunities, such as talks and external events.

Eligibility

Applicants must self-identify as being either Black or of Black heritage.

Apply for a Postgraduate Research Course at the 91福利 to begin in October 2026.
