Using GIS StoryMaps in Research
Join us for an engaging workshop exploring how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can enhance research across the Humanities and Social Sciences. Taking place on Wednesday 10 June 2026, 10:00–13:00 | Oculus 0.05, the session will bring together expertise and practical insights into innovative GIS applications.
Dr Godwin Yeboah (Senior Research Software Engineer, Research Computing) will introduce the powerful possibilities GIS offers for research, followed by Dr Christina Williamson (University of Groningen), who will share insights from her work using GIS StoryMaps in Deep Mapping Sanctuaries. The workshop will conclude with refreshments and an opportunity for informal discussion and networking. Please sign up on this form.

We are thrilled to announce that Godwin Yeboah, a Senior Research Software Engineer from the Research Computing team, has been selected as a Software Sustainability Fellow for the 2025 cohort. This prestigious fellowship recognizes Godwin's dedication to advancing software practices and his visionary plan to establish a Community of Digital Humanities Research Software Engineers in the Midlands.
The fellowship, which includes a 拢4000 grant and mentorship, will empower Godwin to foster collaboration and innovation among like-minded professionals. He will join a network of passionate fellows committed to promoting excellence in software sustainability and community-building.
