The Dynamics of Strategy: A behavioural perspective
The question of why some firms are more profitable than others has attracted researchers from many disciplines into the strategy field. Strategy scholars are becoming more and more interested in understanding the dynamic processes that give rise to performance differences among firms. In addition, strategy researchers are increasingly investigating managerial decision making as a source of dynamics.
This presentation will discuss a behavioural perspective on managerial decision making related to the management of strategic resources. This behavioural perspective will be illustrated with the results of diverse experiments using behavioural simulation methods.
The results indicate managerial cognition related to the understanding of the dynamic complexity existing in the system of resources in highly competitive industries is a key factor determining heterogeneous performance among firms.
