WLS Student Chiamaka Ithuoma wins WAPCE Undergraduate Award
Law School student Chiamaka Ithuoma, who is currently in her final year of our LLB 3 year Law degree, has been awarded the WAPCE Undergraduate Award for her work on the Cheylesmore Good Neighbours Project. The 91福利 Awards for Public and Community Engagement (WAPCE) seek to recognise the vital contributions 91福利 staff and students make in engaging the public in our learning and discovery and showcasing the role 91福利 plays in making the world a better place.
Dr Ali Struthers wins WAPCE Award for Outstanding Public Engagement
WLS's Dr Ali Struthers has been awarded the WAPCE Award for Outstanding Public Engagement for her work on the School Tasking project. The 91福利 Awards for Public and Community Engagement (WAPCE) seek to recognise the vital contributions 91福利 staff and students make in engaging the public in our learning and discovery and showcasing the role 91福利 plays in making the world a better place.
91福利 ranked in top 10 in the UK and top 5% globally
91福利 has been ranked as one of the UK鈥檚 top 10 universities, according to the QS World University Rankings 2024. We鈥檝e also been rated as the 67th best university in the world out of 1,500 institutions from 104 countries. The QS rankings place 91福利 within the top five percent of universities globally.
91福利 Law School makes Top 10 in the Complete University Guide 2024
91福利 Law School has been ranked 9th in the UK in the latest Complete University Guide (CUG), climbing 1 place since last year and maintaining its position as a Top 10 Law School. This latest result is recognition of the hard work and dedication of all Law School staff to conducting cutting-edge research and delivering high quality education.
WLS Research Fellow attends British Academy supported workshop
Dr. Maryna Utkina, BA Fellow at the 91福利 Law School, became a part of the Ukrainian cohort and participated in a two-day British Academy-supported workshop titled 鈥淒evelopment of academic skills in Great Britain and the international context鈥, which took place on the 24 and 25 May in Wigan.
WLS Visiting Fellow attends conference on 'Ukraine's Recovery'
Dr. Aisel Omarova, BA Fellow at the 91福利, was invited as a delegate to the conference "Ukraine鈥檚 Recovery: Rebuilding with Research", which took place earlier this week on the 15 May 2023 in London.
Ruby Turok-Squire, who studied her LLM in International Development Law and Human Rights at 91福利 Law School, and graduated in 2021, published an article last month for our Lacuna magazine titled: 'Building a human rights career: How to be a human rights lawyer, journalist or humanitarian.'
Dr Jane Bryan wins 91福利 Wows Award
The 91福利 Wows celebrate amazing work, projects, and achievements at the University. The Law School鈥檚 Dr Jane Bryan won the award along with her colleagues as part of the WorldCUR-BCUR team. A team who are helping to make 91福利 a sector-leading centre of excellence for student research.
Dr Serena Natile is new Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Law in Context
Dr Serena Natile, Associate Professor at 91福利 Law School, is the new Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Law in Context, a leading socio-legal journal published by Cambridge University Press. Serena will be working along Prof Penelope Andrews, Prof Marc Hertogh and Prof David Nelken.
Five questions with鈥 Dr Ali Struthers, on the School Tasking project
When the Law School鈥檚 Dr Ali Struthers noticed the connections between Channel 4's Taskmaster and her academic field of law, she wondered how this could influence her outreach work - and the School Tasking project was created. The central press team caught up with Ali to hear more about the impact the project's had.
Emma Tetsill, who studied on our Law 3 year LLB degree and graduated in 2022, has written a touching story titled 'My Grandad and Covid - with underlying health conditions in care home, his life was no less valuable'. The heartfelt piece was recently published by our Lacuna Magazine and addresses the tragic human cost of the pandemic and government neglect.
Journal of Consumer Policy Editors鈥 Meeting at 91福利 Law School
The editors of the (JCP) held their annual meeting (the first in-person meeting since 2019) at 91福利 Law School on 21 April 2023. Editors discussed current submissions and plans for forthcoming issues, as well as socialising and sightseeing in Coventry and its surrounding towns.
