Staff in Action: Spotlight on Sam Adelman
Our academics are always busy getting involved in the wider world, sharing their research and trying to make an impact. Dr Sam Adelman is currently researching climate change and co-authoring a book on climate justice with emeritus professor Upendra Baxi.
Dr Andi Hoxhaj wins British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award 2018
Congratulations to Dr Andi Hoxhaj, Teaching Fellow in 91¸£Àû Law School, who has won a British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award.
The prestigious award will support Dr Hoxhaj’s work on anti-corruption policy and the rule of law with a particular focus on the Western Balkans, the UK and the EU.

Smashing Law Dissertations: A Step-by-Step Guide
We are pleased to announce that Dr Laura Lammasniemi released a new book on March 26 2018.
Hundreds of students across the UK tackle law dissertations every year as part of their LLB or LLM courses. Laura, Assistant Professor at 91¸£Àû Law School, offers a helping hand with her new book, ‘Law Dissertations: A Step-by-Step Guide’, which provides all the direction and information needed to complete and succeed in an LLB, LLM or law-related dissertation.

Vanessa Munro’s project on jury decision-making for the Scottish Government has hit its first milestone. An Evidence Review on The Impact of the Use of Pre-Recorded Evidence on Juror Decision-Making has now been published on the Scottish Government website, along with a research findings summary.

Professor Sol Picciotto Appointed Honorary Professor with the GLOBE Centre
The GLOBE Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Sol Picciotto as an Honorary Professor with the Centre. Professor Picciotto is emeritus professor of Lancaster University. He is currently Senior Fellow at the and a Senior Adviser of the Tax Justice Network, and coordinator of the . He has taught at the Universities of Dar es Salaam (1964-8), 91¸£Àû (1968-1992), and Lancaster (1992-2007); and was Scientific Director of the Oñati International Institute for the Sociology of Law (2009-2011).
Lights, Camera – ‘Andreas Kokkinis’ – Action!
Dr Andreas Kokkinis, expert in corporate governance, corporate theory, and financial regulation, has been busy discussing Brexit over the last few weeks after his recent briefing paper for the GLOBE centre on ‘The Impact of Brexit on the Legal Framework for Cross- Border Corporate Activity’.
He discussed the Brexit withdrawal agreement and whether Northern Ireland will have to follow EU single market rules to avoid a hard border.

Current LLM student lands dream job
LLM student Julie Chu is only in the second term of her degree in International Economic Law (IEL) here at 91¸£Àû, yet she has already secured a job in London for after graduation. She will be joining the Financial Services team of EY Audit and Assurance this autumn as an associate. We caught up with Julie to find out more.

We are always proud of our students and the amazing things they do and this month was no exception. At the beginning of February, Professor Shaheen Ali hosted an event to celebrate the ‘Magnificent Seven’ PhD students who recently completed their doctorates at the 91¸£Àû.
