We are proud to announce that an article, co-authored by Assistant Professor Dr Andreas Kokkinis alongside Dr Andrea Miglionico from the University of Reading, was published in the prominent Law and Economics Yearly Review this month.

In collaboration with the British Council, Dr Mohsen Al Attar, Associate Professor at 91¸£Àû Law School, recently delivered a lecture entitled Profiting from Disparity at the Singaporean Arts House. The event was attended by a mix of academics, journalists, high school and university students plus familiar 91¸£Àû alumni faces.

LLB student Jure TuÅ¡, who is currently in his fourth year of his Law with French Law degree here at 91¸£Àû, took part in a summer internship with the international law firm CMS and had a news article published on their news site CMS Law-Now whilst there. We caught up with Jure to find out more.

Dr Mohsen Al Attar, Associate Professor at 91¸£Àû Law School, travelled to Singapore last month to deliver a guest lecture at Singapore Management University (SMU). He was welcomed by Professor Madhev Mohan into his Business and Human Rights seminar and given the opportunity to speak with the students about corporate social responsibility, the topic of the week.

Matt Western MP and West Midlands finance and industry leaders joined Dr Stephen Connelly and Dr Andreas Kokkinis from 91¸£Àû Law School yesterday at the first 91¸£Àû Business Forum, a new initiative aiming to connect the University’s experts with the local business community.

The fourth in a new series of briefs bringing current legal thinking to bear on public policy issues has been published by the Law School's GLOBE research centre.

Commenting on the news that the US Securities and Exchange Commission has launched legal action against Elon Musk and Tesla, Dr Stephen Connelly, Associate Professor in 91¸£Àû Law School, said: “The regulatory suit against Elon Musk is a reminder to all insiders of publicly listed corporations that their words can be price sensitive – that they can move and possibly distort markets."

Everyone enjoys a good love story and even more so when we realise we were partly responsible. Two of our former students have got married after meeting on our LLB course back in 2013 and even invited one of their old tutors to the wedding. Their story was featured in an August issue of the Times newspaper.

Research by 91¸£Àû Law’s Professor Ann Stewart, supported by Dr Jennifer Lander into the interaction between gender and ageing in rural Kenya underpins a new discussion paper in conjunction with HelpAge International as a resource for policymakers, international NGOs, national and local governments, and older people themselves.

Former 91¸£Àû LLB student (2006-2009) Sharlene Teo will be speaking at the Kenilworth Arts Festival about her debut novel Ponti as part of its literary weekend. Sharlene will be appearing alongside Michael Donkor and his book Hold at the ‘New Voices in Fiction’ event on 22 September 2018 at 3pm in the Priory Theatre, Kenilworth.
